The Lion and the Mouse

Hi. Welcome to Dict.cn. This is Nisha. And today we will learn a new article, "The Lion and the Mouse".

Once when a Lion was asleep a little Mouse began running up and down upon him; this soon wakened the Lion, who placed his huge paw upon him, and opened his big jaws to swallow him. “Pardon, O King,” cried the little Mouse: “forgive me this time, I shall never forget it: who knows if I may be able to do you a turn one of these days?” The Lion was so tickled at the idea of the Mouse being able to help him that he lifted up his paw and let him go.
Some time after the Lion was caught in a trap, and the hunters who desired to carry him alive to the King, tied him to a tree while they went in search of a wagon to carry him on. Just then the little Mouse happened to pass by, and seeing the sad plight in which the Lion was, went up to him and soon gnawed away the ropes that bound the King of Beasts. “Was I not right?” said the little Mouse.

狮子和老鼠

一只狮子在睡觉，一只小老鼠在它上面跑来跑去，搅醒了狮子，狮子一掌按住老鼠，张开大口准备吞下它。小老鼠哀求到，“原谅我这次吧陛下，我永远也不会忘记您的大恩大德，或许那天会轮到我报答你的。”狮子被老鼠帮助它的想法逗乐了，于是便放了它。
过了很多天，狮子掉进了猎人的陷阱，猎人们想活抓它并把它献给国王，于是便把它捆在树上，寻找小车去了。曾经被狮子放掉的小老鼠刚好路过，看着狮子身陷困境，小老鼠马上跑过去咬断了绳索，解救了百兽之王。“瞧，我以前说的没错吧”小老鼠说。没有微不足道的朋友。
